River City Raceway

River City Raceway consists of two outdoor tracks. We have a 1/8 scale off-road race track and a multi-use/oval track.

River City Raceway NFP is NOT funded or maintained by the Peoria Park District. We are a not-for-profit R/C club registered with the State of Illinois. We have a license agreement permitting the lease of Peoria Park District land in Detweiller Park. Our board of directors are unpaid volunteers voted on by club members. Donations, membership dues and event fees help us pay for the land lease, insurance, track maintenance equipment, storage, equipment rentals, advertising, electric, water, restrooms, administrative costs, and other expenses associated with hosting events and keeping the track available to the public

***URGENT! Please Help! ***

On November 18th, 2023 River City Raceway was the unfortunate victim of arson. Our storage container and all supplies & maintenance equipment that were inside are a total loss. Much to our dismay, our property insurance only covers the driver’s stand which was unharmed. So unfortunately an insurance claim isn’t an option. Please consider donating so we can purchase a new storage container and maintenance equipment. The survival of our track and race program depends on donations from people like you. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated!!!

I’m not sure what class my R/C car fits into. Can I still race?

Most likely, yes. Send us a message with what you will be bringing and we will tell you what class you can race in or what modifications would be required to race in a specific class.

What do I need to race other than my R/C vehicle?

You will need a “MyLaps RC4” transponder so the computer can “see” your R/C vehicle and count your laps. These can be purchased at your local hobby store. You DO NOT need the more expensive 2-wire (Hybrid) transponder for our track. We also have a few transponders available to rent for $10 per/day. Rental transponders are first come first serve. Message us on Facebook to check availability or reserve one in advance for a race.

HOURS

River City Raceway is open to the public 7 days a week year round from sunrise to sunset unless the track is wet or closed for maintenance.

PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE OR WALK ON TRACKS WHEN THEY ARE WET!!!

Doing so damages the race surface. Our facility is NOT maintained by the Peoria Park District, so holes and ruts in the track only create more work for the volunteers. Please be respectful and wait until the track is dry before you walk or drive on it.

River City Raceway is FREE to the public except during scheduled events.
