About Lincoln County Raceway

Lincoln County Raceway is a 3/8 mile semi banked dirt oval at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds in North Platte, Nebraska, on West Highway 30. It races Saturday nights from spring through late summer under IMCA sanction, and it has something most tracks in the region do not: a small go kart track for kids built inside the main oval. The covered grandstand seats around 2,500.

Built for Spectators

The facility is unusually well equipped for a county fairgrounds track. The grandstand is covered, which matters a great deal in western Nebraska where an evening can turn windy or wet with little warning, and it comes with a press box and announcers' stand. Concessions and restrooms are on site, and there is a large parking area separate from a fenced pit area.

Racing is sanctioned by IMCA, so the rules match those at tracks across the region and points feed into IMCA standings. Promotion is handled by BST Promotions.

Saturday Night Racing

The weekly card runs Saturday nights, with the season running from April through late summer. Classes have included IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars, Northern Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks, Sport Compacts and Mini Sprints, with the exact lineup varying by season.

Gates open at 5:00 in the evening. Special events appear through the year, including United Rebel Sprint Series sprint car dates, and other regional touring groups have visited, among them dwarf car and lightning sprint associations out of the Rocky Mountain region.

JR Raceway for Kids

The feature worth highlighting is the 1/10 mile junior go kart track built inside the main oval. A separate youth track on the same property means a family can bring both a race car and a kart to the same event, and it gives young drivers a real place to start rather than watching from the stands.

Very few dirt tracks in Nebraska offer that inside the fence, and for families in western Nebraska, where the next track in any direction is an hour or more away, it makes this facility considerably more useful than its size suggests.

Getting There

The raceway is at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds on West Highway 30 in North Platte, right off I-80 in the middle of western Nebraska. North Platte is the largest town for a long way in any direction, so this track serves a wide area.

Dawson County Raceway in Lexington is the nearest other oval, roughly an hour east on I-80, and the two race on different nights, so a weekend can cover both.

The track's Facebook page is the most current source for schedules, rain calls and special events, and it is updated through the season.
