About Green Acres MX

Green Acres MX is a privately owned motocross track on Timber Road just north of Marion, Kansas, in the central part of the state. The track runs about a mile around roughly 20 acres, it is watered, groomed and fitted with a starting gate, and it is open to riders on Thursdays and Sundays. Membership is required to ride.

Berms, Jumps and Loose Dirt

The layout is built around corners. Berms run through almost the entire track, which is what separates a well built motocross course from a flat field with jumps in it. Berms let riders carry speed through turns and give newer riders something to lean on while they learn.

The surface is mostly loose dirt with no hardpack and no rocks. It holds little dust on a normal day and stays reasonably firm after rain, which is a credit to the watering and grooming. There are many small jumps and some large ones, a few trees around the property, no steep hills and no water crossings.

Difficulty rates as mostly intermediate with some beginner terrain and a small amount that will test experienced riders. Hazards are few and the ones that exist are marked, which is worth noting for parents bringing kids out for the first time.

Riding Days and Membership

The track is open Thursdays and Sundays. Membership is required to ride, so call before your first visit to sort that out rather than turning up at the gate.

Both motorcycles and quads can ride, though quads are restricted to certain days. Specifically, quads are not allowed on practice days scheduled ahead of a race or other special event. Call for the current quad schedule. Side by sides, UTVs, Jeeps and four wheel drive trucks are not permitted.

Riding fees are charged per rider with a lower rate for small bikes, and race day spectator entry is charged per person with young children admitted free. A spark arresting exhaust is recommended.

Facilities and Camping

The property has restroom facilities and a concession stand, which is more than many small private tracks offer. Camping is permitted during events for an additional fee, so race weekends can be done without booking a room.

If you would rather stay somewhere with hookups, Marion Reservoir sits a few miles west with Corps campgrounds at Hillsboro Cove and Cottonwood Point offering potable water, RV hookups and a dump station. Fuel and supplies are available in Marion, a few miles south.

Getting There

From Marion, take State Route 256 to Walnut Street, turn north and continue about a mile. Walnut Street becomes Timber Road, and the track entrance is on the right.
